Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PrevTool — for Gofile™ (referred to as “the Service”, “we”, or “us”) handles information when you use our browser extension or web service. We value your privacy and collect as little personal data as possible.
1. Overview
PrevTool allows users to instantly preview Gofile links, inspect file information, and optionally download files directly. The Service is independent and not affiliated with Gofile or any of its representatives.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the Service and prevent abuse:
- Account data (Premium / optional): if you choose to sign in, we store your account identifier and email address, plus the authentication provider (e.g., Google).
- Subscription data (Premium): we store subscription-related identifiers from Stripe (e.g., customer/subscription IDs), plan name, status, billing interval and period end dates.
- Usage / quota enforcement: we store daily usage counters such as number of previews per day. For free usage, this may be linked to a pseudonymous device/install identifier.
- Extension install / security: we may store an install identifier and last-seen timestamp to enforce account security (e.g., revoking installs).
- Link validation & caching (minimal): when you submit a Gofile link, we may temporarily cache link identifiers and non-content metadata (e.g., validity status) for performance and abuse prevention. We do not store file contents.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use advertising trackers.
3. Payments and Billing
Premium subscriptions are processed securely via Stripe. Stripe may collect additional payment-related information (card details, billing address, etc.) as required by law and its own privacy policy. We never store or have access to your payment data. You can review Stripe’s privacy practices at stripe.com/privacy.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. We use Plausible Analytics to measure aggregated website usage (e.g., page views, referrers, and other high-level metrics) in a privacy-friendly way. Plausible does not set cookies and does not store raw IP addresses or user agents.
You can opt out by blocking requests to plausible.io or
by using Plausible’s opt-out mechanism (set
localStorage.plausible_ignore = "true" in your browser).
The browser extension also stores some data locally on your device (e.g., daily cache to avoid double counting, debug flags, and short-lived tokens), using browser storage. This local storage is used only to provide the Service features.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Our backend infrastructure is hosted in the European Union (AWS region: eu-west-1). Network and security services (e.g., Cloudflare) may process technical request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the Service.
- Access to application data is restricted to the service operator only.
- We do not download or store file contents from Gofile on our servers. When you download a file, your browser downloads it directly from the file host.
6. Data Retention
- Account & subscription identifiers: kept while your subscription is active, and deleted or anonymized within 30 days after cancellation (except where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations).
- Daily usage counters: kept for a limited period and periodically pruned (used for quota enforcement and abuse prevention).
- Install security data: kept while the install is active and pruned after inactivity.
- Infrastructure logs: may exist at our hosting/providers level for security and troubleshooting and are retained for a limited period according to provider settings.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location (including the EEA/UK), you may have the right to request access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, and to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, contact: founder@prevtool.com.
